The synthetic pathway of benzylquinoline quaternary dimer (BQD), which has excellent corrosion inhibition properties, was optimized to substantially increase its content in the synthesized products. The green and atom-economical improvement of the laboratory and industrial preparation routes of the preferred indolizine derivatives was achieved by means of adjusting the substrate ratios, temperatures, solvent polarity, and catalyst types and dosages, with the specific data centered around the synthetic screening of the target derivatives with excellent corrosion inhibition properties.
