Boron (B) modified titanium alloys have higher strength, stiffness and wear resistance due to the formation of TiB intermetallic compounds. TiB has been successfully used as reinforcing phase of titanium alloys. Boron modified titanium alloys have the potential to expand the application range of titanium alloys and have attracted wide attention. The effects of trace boron modification on the as-cast structure and properties of titanium alloys and the effects of trace boron modification uperimposed with hot working overlapping or heat treatment on the structure and properties of titanium alloys were reviewed.
