It can be seen that the average microhardness values of the quaternary, quintuple and hexa-alloy coatings are 320, 410 and 330 HV0.1, respectively, which are higher than those of 45 steel (205 HV0.1) and general aluminum alloys. Among them, the five-element coating has the highest hardness, which is about seven times higher than the conventional Al coating (66 HV0.1), mainly because of the high amorphous content of the coating and the presence of a small amount of nanocrystals that play a diffusion strengthening role.
