The leading unit of this project is Sun Yat-sen University, in collaboration with the University of Macau. The project focuses on the issue of premature corrosion damage to offshore concrete structures in the collaborative protection system through three aspects: passivation film construction on the surface of steel bars, chloride capture within concrete, and external isolation layer. This breakthrough will be beneficial for effectively addressing steel bar corrosion and implementing a coordinated protection mechanism for offshore concrete structures in the harsh and complex marine environment of the South China Sea. It will provide support for the development and construction of marine engineering projects as well as promote and implement national maritime strategies.
