Swerea KIMAB has invested in a new advanced climatic chamber from ControlArt. The chamber has been calibrated and tested and is now working suffi ciently. We are now well equipped and can run most of the OEM’s cyclic corrosion tests in both Stockholm and Brest.
Cyclic corrosion testing is frequently used to evaluate the corrosion resistance of materials, especially within the automotive industry. These tests simulate the road environment and are used to evaluate and compare new materials, surface treatments and coatings as well as for quality control in the production line. All of the car manufacturers have their own designed Cyclic Corrosion Test (CCT) but they all have in common the addition of NaCl-solution and a controlled way of cycling of the temperature and relative humidity. With the climatic chambers at Swerea KIMAB and Institut de la Corrosion we can run most of the CCT-tests including the new VDA 233-102 in which the temperature is lowered to -15 °C.
