Fig. 2(a) shows that both the as-cast and the WR alloys are mainly composed of Zn andβ-LiZn4 phases. For both the phases, the strongest peak of randomly orientated powders is that of (01–11).However, in the WR state, they both exhibit the strongest peak of (0002), indicating a basal texture typical for rolled HCP metals, as verified previously in Mg alloys and other Zn alloys.
