Exemplary morphology of L-929 cells in good state with spindle shape are shown in negative group. The morphology of cells cultured in 10% extracts of Zn and Zn-(0.2–1.4)Li alloys still exhibits a spindle shape, indicating the no cytotoxicity of extracts under this concentration. When concentration of extracts reaches 40%, the majority of the cells still adhere to the culture plate. However, floating cells in irregular circular appear in the extracts, and fractions of these cells in Zn-(0.5–0.8)Li alloys are higher than that of the other materials, indicating the rising cytotoxicity of the extracts in Zn-(0.5–0.8)Li alloys. When the concentration of extracts reaches 100%, only suspending circular cells can be observed in all the extracts, showing high cytotoxicity of 100% extracts.
